The Planet on the Plate: Should We Leave Beef Behind?

If you haven't heard, food media outlet, Epicurious, made an announcement on April 26, 2021 that the publication will not be releasing any new recipes featuring beef and have encouraged other food media outlets to consider doing the same. Check out the full article here.

"We know that some people might assume that this decision signals some sort of vendetta against cows—or the people who eat them. But this decision was not made because we hate hamburgers (we don’t!). Instead, our shift is solely about sustainability, about not giving airtime to one of the world’s worst climate offenders. We think of this decision as not anti-beef but rather pro-planet."
"The only change is that we now believe that part of getting better means cooking with the planet in mind. If we don’t, we’ll end up with no planet at all."

We may do away with classes featuring beef and other ingredients that have a significant negative impact on our planet, in the meantime, we'll be working hard on new recipes featuring seasonal, nutritious and sustainable ingredients to keep you inspired and discovering delicious meals at home. Check out our latest veggie-focused classes: Shiitake Ramen, Homemade Pita and Hummus, Falafel Burgers, and Vegetable Paella.
