Eating and Enjoying

What to Cook This Month: July 2023

July is a month filled with awesome celebrations and drool-worthy dishes. We've got the Fourth of July, Bastille Day, National Ice Cream Day, and National Hot Dog Day, all begging for some authentic and laid-back cooking. So, let's kick back, fire up the grill, and dig into some seriously good eats!

The Fourth of July

Starting with the Fourth of July, it's time to get your grill game strong. Throw those juicy hot dogs and burgers on the fire and let 'em sizzle to perfection. Slap 'em on fluffy buns, load 'em up with mustard, ketchup, and all your favorite fixin's. Don't forget the classic sides like corn on the cob, potato salad, and tangy coleslaw. And for a sweet ending, go all out with a patriotic dessert like a homemade pie or a big ol' bowl of ice cream. It's time to celebrate freedom, food, and good times!

Bastille Day: July 14

Next up is Bastille Day, where we'll bring a touch of France to our plates. Whip up a delicious quiche Lorraine, filled with smoky bacon and melty cheese. Pair it with a fresh Niçoise salad, loaded with tuna, olives, green beans, and eggs. And for that French flair, treat yourself to delicate macarons or a creamy crème brûlée. Mmm, c'est magnifique!

National Ice Cream Day: July 16

Now, let's cool down on National Ice Cream Day. Bust out your ice cream maker or head to the local scoop shop. Get wild with flavors like strawberry cheesecake, cookies and cream, or mint chocolate chip. Don't hold back on the toppings—crushed cookies, sprinkles, hot fudge, and whipped cream. Build a sundae masterpiece and savor every sweet spoonful. It's a day dedicated to pure frozen delight!

National Hot Dog Day: July 19

Last but not least, we've got National Hot Dog Day. It's time to unleash your creativity and load up those dogs. Go for a classic Chicago-style dog with mustard, onions, relish, tomato slices, and a sprinkle of celery salt. Or dive into a chili dog smothered in rich, meaty chili, shredded cheese, and onions. And don't forget to offer vegetarian or vegan options for all the hot dog lovers out there.

So, get your grill, your apron, and your appetite ready. July is the month to celebrate with good food and good company. Whether you're firing up the grill, indulging in French delicacies, chilling with a sweet ice cream treat, or getting creative with hot dogs, let the flavors shine and enjoy the relaxed vibes of summer. Cheers to a mouthwatering month ahead!
